The perfect setup

Before setting out to iron your dress shirt, make sure the iron itself is clean. Any residue stains or marks on the iron can transfer onto your dress shirt. Fill the water chamber installed in the iron with distilled or bottled water, and if you don’t have an ironing board, simply place bath towels on your tabletop.

Make sure the iron is set to the right temperature, as every fabric requires a different one. Cotton fabrics, for instance, need to be ironed on high heat and when they’re damp. When ironing linen fabrics, turn your dress shirt inside out first and use the steam and spray buttons when need be.

Iron the collar first

When ironing your dress shirt, iron the collar first.

Pop the collar up and iron the underside first. Firmly press the iron from one end to the other, and if any creases appear, press them downward so that they’re less visible when you wear the shirt.

Repeat this process on the other side of your collar.

Cuffs

After you’re done with the collar, head over to the cuffs. Unbutton them carefully and place them flatly on your table. Iron the cuffs from the inside and make your way out, clearing up all the wrinkles.

The rest of the shirt

Iron the front of the shirt and use the steam button when needed. Then iron the back side of the shirt, gradually making your way to its sleeves.

Always make sure to iron carefully around the buttons, not over them. This can break and damage them. Moreover, never iron a shirt with stains, because it can become almost impossible for you to remove them later!
